The iPhone X was the biggest change to the well-established iPhone series tough it isn’t a complete success. It was released on the 10th anniversary of Apple, it is known as iPhone X – or iPhone 10. Apple claims that this is the future of smartphone and it is all about premium parts and an all new experience. It has deducted many known elements like the home button, Touch ID fingerprint scanner and introduced new method of unlocking the phone and navigating. It was a risky step on behalf of the Apple.

Design The design of X is a mix of old and new iPhones, with very little bezel, no home button and a glass back. It’s a premium phone which feels expensive with the steel rim on the outside which is prone to scratched. Due to the glass back it is claimed to be scratch less and most breakable phone. According to the various drop test on iPhone X it didn’t end well from three foot drop. Which is worst compared to the previous iPhone. If you are thinking of investing in iPhone X than get a durable case before hand. Screen The iPhone X has one of the best screens on an iPhone, which is hard to miss as it is the first thing you will notice about the phone. The 5.8 inch OLED display – the first in an iPhone – has perfect black levels and clear vibrant colors.

Face ID and True Depth Camera & Animoji The Apple’s facial recognition on this phone is very impressive which replaces the well-loved fingerprint scanning Touch ID. In order to set up all you have to do is put your face in the view and spin your head around a couple of times and you are all set to start using the phone. It can recognize your face in pitch black room, low light space or when you are on the move, just raise the phone up and your screen is unlocked. Face ID is enabled by the True Depth camera. You can create talking emoji using your own face and True Depth camera. You can be anything from the new app from talking dog to talking robot to the other avatars. The facial mapping is the most precise you will ever see. This isn’t the deal breaker feature and you will probably forget in a week. Performance & Battery Life The X is powered by six-core A11 Bionic processor with 3GB RAM. This RAM may not sound much but it is the most Apple has ever integrated, this phone is as fast as iPhone 8 Plus. This phone has a setup of dual speaker even though screen stretches from edge to edge. Volume is loud and impressive with decent quality audio. The battery on iPhone X is 2716mAh, which is a bit larger than iPhone 8 Plus. The battery can be a bit better but it works fine. You will be no longer able to see the battery percentage stats and time. Just like iPhone 8 it features wireless charging. It takes approximately two hours to charge phone from dead.

Software  Due to the lack of home button it has made a big impact on iOS 11 operating system. It will take some time getting used to loads of swiping and hold to access the multitasking menu. They could have introduced split-screen multitasking option – but hopefully iOS 12 will address this concern. Camera It features a 12MP dual sensory back camera with F/2.4 aperture and a True Depth 7MP front facing camera. The camera is very similar to iPhone 8 Plus with minor differences. You can capture stunning shots that is rich in details. The pictures captured in low light are a bit better from previous iPhones.

Final Verdict The iPhone X is for the iPhone lovers that wanted some change in design for over the last four years. Apple takes a huge gamble with iPhone X but it got paid off. It was uncertain to remove home button but then it was well needed as well. It’s the premium smartphone with great screen and a powerful True Depth camera. It retails for PKR 121999 up to PKR 160900, making it the most expensive iPhone ever. This is the iPhone to get if you are ready to embrace the changes and the hefty price than this is the phone for you.
